Dry + calm
Cooler mornings and the calmest gulf crossings of the year — expect the fastest ferry windows and shortest Xa Xia queues during this shoulder season.
Summer heat
We add chilled water, electrolyte drinks, and extra canopy coverage at Xa Xia to offset the midday sun. Vehicles stage earlier in Duong Dong to minimize exposure.

Phu Quoc specifics
If you’re already on the island, the ferry + Ha Tien route is far cheaper than a flight and takes about the same total time. Many island visitors use it to extend their stay without leaving the area.
Most nationalities get a Cambodia visa on arrival at the border (~$30–35 equivalent, paid directly at the border — it is not part of any service price). We tell you exactly what to prepare so there are no surprises.
Our Phu Quoc visa run starts with the fast ferry from Duong Dong to Ha Tien. From the Ha Tien ferry terminal, a private car takes you to the Xa Xia Cambodia border for the crossing.
Yes. You cross into Cambodia at Xa Xia / Prek Chak, complete the required exit and entry steps, then return through Vietnam and take the ferry from Ha Tien back to Phu Quoc.
You can — ferry and border are public. But the timing puzzle (ferry + car + border hours + return ferry) is tight, and one missed connection means an overnight in Ha Tien. We handle the whole chain.
Ideally 2–3 days ahead so we can apply for the 90-day e-visa and confirm ferry seats. Same-week bookings are often still possible.
Phu Quoc has a 30-day visa exemption for many nationalities — this route is for travelers who need to reset a visa or renew their stay beyond the exemption window.
Your passport + printed e-visa (we help with the application), and USD or VND for the Cambodia visa fee at the border. Travel light — the ferry leg is relaxed, and we handle the tickets.
